Research-driven · v0.3
Your meter, live in your pocket.
The job of a utility app is to answer four questions in one second: do I owe money,
what's my meter doing right now, what will my next bill be, and can I do something
about it. v0.3 is built around those four — with the live consumption gauge as the
visual centerpiece, modeled on Tibber and Octopus, and Bidgely-style appliance disaggregation
one tap away.
01
Live data is the hero
A circular gauge on home, refreshing every few seconds. The meter feels alive, not archival.
02
Forecast is louder than history
"This cycle will land near ₹5,210" beats a chart of last month's bill.
03
One primary action
Pay or recharge. Everything else lives one screen away.
04
Disaggregation as engagement
"Your AC ate 49% of April." This is what makes users open the app every day.
Five screens. Built around the meter, not the bill.

Your AC ran 4.2 hrs yesterday between 22:00–02:00, drawing ~1.9 kW. That single window cost ₹54 — about 40% of yesterday's bill. One degree warmer typically saves 6–8%.

Source split. Grid vs DG, made visible.
Sources · Home (DG) · Flow · Annexure-B
Most resident disputes happen at the seam between grid and DG backup. No
Indian utility app shows this clearly today. Bijli treats the two as a coupled system: a single
accent — teal-mint for grid,
warm amber for DG — runs through the live
meter, the source ribbon, the cycle split, the outage timeline, and the Annexure-B bill.

Grid was down briefly at 14:22 — DG carried 26 minutes.
DG passes through diesel fuel cost plus a standby charge for fuel + maintenance readiness — typically 3–4× the slab tariff.

Grid → Lights/Fans · 60 kWh₹ 282
Grid → Refrigeration · 38 kWh₹ 200
Grid → Geyser · 22 kWh₹ 116
Your AC is the most expensive flow — 33 kWh on DG alone cost ₹ 600, the same as 95 kWh on the grid. Shift one hour of evening AC into off-peak grid hours and you save roughly ₹ 18 a day.
Two separate bills, two separate documents — per HERC. Disconnection of grid can never be used to recover CAE / DG dues.
Pattern
Coupled accent system
Teal-mint for grid, amber for DG — a single duality that runs through the whole app: live meter ring, source pill, ribbon, donut, bill section borders, transaction colours.
Pattern
Live meter changes state
When the building flips to DG, the home meter ring shifts from teal to amber and the rate jumps from ₹0.42/hr to ₹21.50/hr — visible at a glance, no panic.
Pattern
CAE math, never opaque
Annexure-B shows the actual CAE formula inline — society total ÷ sqft × your sqft — turning the most-disputed number on any RWA bill into a transparent calculation.
Pattern · new
Flow, not breakdown
A two-column Sankey connects sources to appliance categories, with the band width = kWh and the color carrying the source. The same data could be a pie chart — but a pie can't show that DG → AC is ₹600, identical to Grid → AC at three times the kWh.

The committee opens this card on the 1st of each month. Every preflight check runs against
real meter and tariff state — when they all turn green,
the dispatch button lights up. One click and 100 PDFs (50 Annexure-A + 50 Annexure-B) are
issued, 150 deliveries are queued (WhatsApp / email / SMS), and the DHBVN export pack is
generated.

The same Sankey language scaled to society level. Sources on the left, destinations on the right.
The killer admin insight is the right-hand stats panel: which flats consumed the most DG, which
common-area meter is the hottest, and how much of the cycle's revenue came from each tier.
